Hospital Simulator — Beginner Guide

Everything you need to know to run your virtual hospital

What is this Simulator?

This is a Virtual Hospital Simulator designed for students and professionals learning Hospital Administration. It recreates the real-world operations of a multi-specialty hospital with 22 interconnected departments.

Real-Time Simulation

Patients arrive, doctors consult, prescriptions flow to pharmacy, tests to lab - all in real-time

Learn by Doing

Instead of reading theory, you manage a department hands-on and learn through experience

Score & Improve

Every decision you make affects your score. Handle situations well to earn points

Getting Started - Step by Step

1

Go to the Overview Page

The main simulator page shows all 22 departments organized by section. This is your command center.

Navigate to /simulator (click "Overview" in the sidebar)
2

Choose Your Department

Click on any department card. We recommend starting with "Front Office" or "OPD" as a beginner - these are the easiest to understand.

Click a department card - You will be taken to that department
3

Hospital Starts Automatically

The moment you select a department, the ENTIRE hospital starts running. Patients will arrive at the front office, get registered, queue for OPD, get prescriptions, go to pharmacy and lab - all automatically.

Notice the green "LIVE" indicator in the top bar
4

Complete Your Tasks

Your selected department will receive work from the background simulation. For example, if you chose Pharmacy, prescriptions will start appearing from OPD. Complete them to earn points.

Handle tasks as they appear in your department
5

Switch Departments Anytime

Use the sidebar to switch to any other department at any time. The simulation continues - your new department will automatically become the focus.

Click any department in the sidebar
6

Handle Random Events

Random hospital events will occur - equipment failures, patient complaints, emergency arrivals, VIP admissions. Handle them to earn bonus points!

Watch for event notifications and resolve them

How the Hospital Flow Works

The simulator recreates the real patient journey through a hospital. Here is how work flows between departments:

Patient Arrives->Front Office(Walk-in or Emergency. Gets registered with UHID.)
Front Office->OPD Queue(Token generated. Patient waits for consultation.)
OPD Consultation->Three possible paths:
Path A: Pharmacy

Doctor prescribes medicines - Pharmacy dispenses - Patient goes home

Path B: Lab Tests

Doctor orders tests - Lab collects & processes - Results reported - Follow-up

Path C: Admission

Patient needs admission - Bed assigned - IPD care - Surgery? - Discharge

The Magic: Auto-Running Departments

You only manage ONE department at a time. All other departments run automatically in the background. When you choose Pharmacy, the OPD auto-consults patients and sends prescriptions to you. When you choose Lab, OPD auto-generates lab orders for you to process. The system intelligently biases work towards YOUR department so you always have something to do!
